How to Protect Your Suits: Tips and Tricks

Do you have a suit that you love but are worried about the moths? Or maybe you just bought your first suit and want to make sure it lasts. Either way, this guide is for you! Moths can cause big damage but fortunately, there are quick fixes! In this post, we will discuss how to protect your suit from damage using different strategies. We'll also provide some easy tips and tricks on how to take care of your suit so that it lasts for years to come.

5 steps to safeguarding your suits

1. Store your suit properly

Make sure you store your suit in a cool, dry place. Moths thrive in warm, humid environments.

2. Use garment bags

If you're not planning on wearing your suit for awhile, put it in a garment bag. This will help protect it from dust and dirt.

3. Use proper hangers

When you're not wearing your suit, hang it up on a good quality hanger. This will help prevent creases and wrinkles. By using a cedarwood hanger it will not only keep the suit free from wrinkles but also keep those moths away.

4. Use red cedar oil

Red cedar oil is a great and quick and easy way to protect your suit from moth damage. All you need to do is add a few drops to your cedarwood hangers or spray around the wardrobe. Make sure to not spray directly on any garments as it might cause discoloration. The oil will create a barrier that moths cannot penetrate. The oil is 100% natural and is completely safe to use around pets and children as long as it doesn't come in direct contact with skin.

5. Place cedarwood blocks

Another great way to use cedar is by placing cedarwood blocks in your wardrobe. You can find these at most home goods stores. The blocks will emit a scent that moths cannot stand and will help keep them away from your clothes. Make sure to refresh these blocks by spraying them with red cedar oil once per year.

6. Place moth traps in affected areas

If you already have a moth problem, place moth traps around the affected area, Swedish Red Premium Sticky Moth Traps with Pheromones for example. These traps will help to kill the moths and their eggs.
